Viamão possui 112 quilômetros de costa de água doce e a tainha é a espécie que é mais encontrada nas águas do Guaíba e Lagoa dos Patos. A pesca artesanal da Tainha foi liberada no início de maio e a festa é realizada nesta época para comemorar a boa safra. Hoje, são 40 famílias que vivem da pesca artesanal no Guaíba, pescando por ano em torno de 60 toneladas. A tainha assada na brasa é o prato tradicional que será servido durante a 9ª Festa do Peixe, na Vila de Itapuã, em Viamão. Além da tainha, vai ter pirão, bolinho de peixe, violinha, peixe frito e à escabeche. A Festa acontece de 8 a 10 de junho, numa promoção conjunta da Emater/RS-Ascar, Colônia de Pescadores Z4, Associação Comunitária dos Moradores da Vila de Itapuã (Ascomovita), Clube de Mães, Paróquia Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, com patrocínio da Corsan e Governo do Estado, e realização da Prefeitura de Viamão. A expectativa é superar a última edição e comercializar 500 quilos de peixe nos três dias de festa. A Festa do Peixe é o principal evento realizado no Distrito de Itapuã, e, neste ano, contará com 50 bancas de artesanato, comércio em geral, cerveja artesanal e alimentação. Todos os restaurantes da região também estarão oferecendo pratos com peixe. O prato carro-chefe da festa – tainha na brasa, arroz e saladas – será comercializado a R$ 25,00.
Corte
A corte da festa foi escolhida no dia 12 de maio e estará presente nos três dias do evento. A Rainha neste ano é Maria Eduarda Bandeira, a 1ª Princesa é Helena de Oliveira e a 2ª Princesa é Bruna Helena Ludtke.
Atrações
A região de Itapuã é conhecida por sua natureza exuberante. O evento será realizado junto à Praça Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes e os visitantes também poderão passear pela orla de Itapuã. Para animar a festa, estão previstas diversas atrações musicais e culturais, como o 1° Encontro de Motos, esportes náuticos, aviões anfíbios, Stand UpPadle, passeios de barco, brinquedos infantis, entre outros.
Almoço ao sabor de peixe, dia 3
No domingo que antecede o evento, no dia 3 de junho, a Paróquia Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes irá promover um almoço no salão paroquial. No cardápio, peixe frito e ensopado, galeto, arroz e saladas. Após o almoço, haverá domingueira com música ao vivo. Também no dia 3, haverá exposição de veículos antigos junto à Praça da Igreja.
