Em 2017, os investimentos no serviço de abastecimento de energia elétrica da Cooperativa Regional de Distribuição de Energia do Litoral Norte – Coopernorte, ultrapassaram o valor de R$ 2 milhões, atendendo os municípios de Viamão e Santo Antônio da Patrulha. Os avanços ocorreram nas construções de rede, manutenção, troca de postes, troca de transformadores e demais melhorias do serviço. Com 788,14 km de rede construída, levando energia para mais de 5 mil famílias, a Cooperativa tem o compromisso de abastecer as localidades rurais da Boa Vista, Costa do Oveiro, Faxina, Lagoa Branca, Lombas, Morrinhos Pimenta e Quebrada, em Viamão; e as localidades de Acampamento e Arroio da Madeira, em Santo Antônio da Patrulha. Segundo avaliação da equipe diretiva, o aprimoramento e a busca pela qualificação do serviço é uma meta constante. “Passamos por mudanças positivas, como a readequação de rede em toda região de Viamão de 15KV para 25KV, melhorando as condições de fornecimento para nossos associados. Além disso, trocamos mais de 70 transformadores em nossa área de abrangência, mantemos os serviços de poda e manutenção constantes e implantamos sistemas operacionais que agilizam e facilitam o trabalho das equipes de campo”, ressaltou o presidente Jairton Vieira. Para 2018, outras melhorias são esperadas, entre elas, a implantação de projetos de geração de energia, que agora pertencem a Cooperativa de Desenvolvimento e Geração – a Coopernorte Geração. A nova Cooperativa também integra o Grupo Coopernorte.
