Na última semana, a dona Paulina Rodrigues da Silva, moradora do Bairro Araçá comemorou seus 107 anos. Provavelmente, seja a mulher mais velha de Viamão. Paulina é natural de Roque Gonzales e veio morar em Viamão a mais de 30 anos. O vereador Edi Bagé, morador da comunidade, foi tomar uma chá com dona Paulina na companhia de muita gente com mais de 80 anos. As filhas Maria e Maria de Lourdes, e as netas Tatiane e Zulmira prepararam tudo aos convidados. Dona Paulina, com o auxilio das filhas, disse, ao Jornal Opinião, que gosta muito de conversar com as pessoas. Paulina disse que o segredo de chegar aos 107 anos é viver uma vida simples, tranquila, trabalhando muito. Também disse que não bebeu, não fumou e nunca comeu demais. “Uma vida com Deus. Sempre procurei estar rodeada de familiares, que são fundamentais”, falou a centenária. Além do vereador Edi Bagé, foram tomar um chá com dona Paulina, seus vizinhos Francisco Brum de 93 anos, Trajano Duarte Barcellos de 87 anos, João Correa de 82 anos, Rosmilda Correia 75 anos e Maria Gonçalves de 72 anos. Todos adoram morar no Bairro Araçá. Perguntados qual o segredo da longa vida, disseram que sempre trabalharam muito e cuidaram da saúde. “As pessoas não podem parar. Devem sempre estar na ativa”, disse um deles.
