Na sessão do dia 19 de dezembro, o vereador Francinei Bonatto (PSDB) foi escolhido o novo presidente da Câmara Municipal de Viamão. Francinei foi eleito com 17 votos favoráveis, três abstenções e um voto contrário. O vereador assume a frente da Casa Legislativa em 2018. Aos 28 anos passa a ser o mais jovem presidente do Legislativo viamonense da história. No discurso, após a confirmação de seu nome, Francinei defendeu o compromisso com a seriedade, transparência e muito diálogo. “Esse é um momento ímpar. É com muita responsabilidade e gratidão a cada um dos vereadores e com muita seriedade e compromisso que quero trabalhar. Encaro o desafio com muito comprometimento”, disse Francinei. O presidente eleito disse ainda que o objetivo é fazer a diferença na vida dos viamonenses. Francinei ocupará o lugar do atual presidente Xandão Gomes.
