Na última semana, a Prefeitura de Viamão, através da Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, entregou a Licença de Operação do Hospital Veterinário Vitória, para a Coordenadora da Unidade de Medicina Veterinária, Viviane Diogo. O hospital, que pertence à Prefeitura de Porto Alegre, está localizado em Viamão, onde a Secretaria de Meio Ambiente condicionou como medida compensatória, que 20% dos atendimentos realizados pela unidade sejam ofertados ao Município de Viamão. Viabilizando assim, atendimentos de animais selecionados pela Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Secretaria de Saúde, e de animais domésticos da população em situação de vulnerabilidade econômica e social, de ambos os municípios. Ainda sem data definida para o início de funcionamento, a Unidade de Medicina Veterinária estará preparada para realizar procedimentos de baixa e média complexidade, tendo como estrutura blocos cirúrgicos, consultórios, UTI, banco de sangue, farmácia, ambulatório e sala de recuperação. O secretário de Meio Ambiente de Viamão, Gilberto Fraga, ressalta ainda que os serviços que serão realizados pelo Hospital Veterinário Vitória são de grande importância para o Município de Viamão, que possui uma grande demanda para atendimento de animais de pequeno porte.
