O homenageado completou, recentemente, 96 anos e é fundador da Associação Trabalhista dos Aposentados e Pensionistas de Viamão – ATAPIV (antiga ATAPEV). Martim Martins nasceu em 30 de julho de 1922, no município de Herval do Sul. Neto de escravos africanos foi militante do PCB e, em dezembro de 2016, completou o Ensino Médio pelo EJA, na Escola Estadual Setembrina. “Nosso homenageado é uma pessoa que nos dá força para continuar lutando pela nossa gente. Um grande ativista brasileiro. Responsável pela criação da associação dos nossos aposentados e pensionistas. A história do Martim nos anima e anima muito. Ele é um símbolo de luta e honestidade”, disse o vereador Adão Pretto Filho.
