Na sexta-feira (23), no Plenário da Câmara de Vereadores ocorreu a palestra “130 anos da Lei Áurea”, tendo como palestrante Sandrali Campos Bueno. O debate, que contou com a participação do vereador Adão Pretto, de integrantes da ATAPVI (Associação dos Trabalhadores, Aposentados, Pensionistas e Idosos de Viamão) e de professores da rede pública municipal, aconteceu em homenagem ao dia 20 de novembro (Dia Nacional da Consciência Negra), data alusiva à morte de Zumbi dos Palmares, líder da resistência negra à escravidão no Brasil. O evento consolidou-se a partir de trocas de experiências, trocas de saberes e a partir do resgate da dívida histórica do Brasil com a sua comunidade negra. O vereador Adão Pretto ressaltou a importância de eventos que tragam a história das pessoas negras para dentro da Câmara: “Nós temos uma grande dívida com os negros e negras do nosso país e a realização desses eventos são importantes para resgatarmos o peso dessa dívida. Estou disposto a levar todas essas experiências que tivemos hoje para dentro das escolas públicas e de espaços com maior visibilidade”, frisou Adão.
