Incentivado pela luta em prol da duplicação do Caminho do Meio, liderada pelo deputado Elvino Bohn Gass (PT-RS), o vereador Luís Armando Azambuja (PT), através da Lei Municipal 4.656/2017, criou a Frente Parlamentar em Defesa da Mobilidade Urbana e Infraestrutura Viária, cujo objetivo é fortalecer e promover a discussão, debates, audiências, elaboração e aplicação de políticas públicas em defesa da qualidade da mobilidade urbana e planejamento da infraestrutura viária em Viamão.
De acordo com o vereador Armando Azambuja, a Frente Parlamentar em Defesa da Mobilidade vai realizar uma permanente força tarefa para tratar junto aos Governos Federal, Estadual e Municipal, e outros diferentes órgãos, secretarias, ministérios e autoridades políticas e representativas de apoio, como: Assembleia Legislativa, Congresso Nacional e Senado Federal, a fim de propor e propiciar projetos, emendas orçamentárias e parlamentares para identificar ações e soluções das reivindicações de mobilidade urbana e planejamento da infraestrutura viária de Viamão. Em seu discurso, na sessão de formação da Frente em Defesa da Mobilidade, o vereador Armando Azambuja defendeu ação de reivindicação das obras de mobilidade urbana necessárias à população viamonense, como as duplicações do Caminho do Meio e da ERS 118, a pavimentação da ERS 118 até Itapuã, a Perimetral Metropolitana, com a duplicação da Estrada Bérico Bernardes, construção do Viaduto no entroncamento da ERS 118 com a ERS 040, do corredor de ônibus da ERS 040, da Ipiranga até Viamão e da duplicação da ERS 040, trecho Viamão até Pinhal, entre outros trechos locais. “É momento de correr atrás do prejuízo para atender as demandas de nossa comunidade, unindo todas as forças que desejarem engajar em nossas lutas, independente de cores partidárias e com objetivo comum: desenvolver Viamão com obras de mobilidade urbana”, defendeu Armando.
