Com o apoio da Prefeitura, por meio da Secretaria Municipal da Cultura, a Liga Independente das Escolas de Sambas de Viamão (Liesvi), realizou no dia 16 de dezembro, em sua sede social, com a presença de centenas de pessoas, a grande arrancada para o Carnaval de 2019. Segundo o secretário Municipal da Cultura, Lucianinho Alves, é sempre importante discutir o tema e valorizar a cultura carnavalesca. Conforme ele, a cidade tem todo um contexto histórico dentro do cenário carnavalesco. “Essa nossa história vem das agremiações carnavalescas radicadas em nosso município, além da participação da nossa representante no carnaval de Porto Alegra, a Unidos de Vila Isabel”, completou o secretário. O evento que também marcou a inauguração do Espaço Cultural da Liesvi, na ERS 040, na parada 44, contou com a apresentação das escolas de samba Império dos Herdeiros, da representante do carnaval de Viamão em Porto Alegre, Unidos de Vila Isabel, além da multicampeã, Imperadores do Samba, que, em 2019, comemora 60 anos de fundação. A festa contou com as presenças do prefeito de Viamão, André Pacheco, do presidente da Liesvi, Amarado, além de carnavalescos e foliões que foram prestigiar o evento. A atividade teve o apoio também das secretarias municipais de Obras e Serviços Públicos e da Saúde, além da Brigada Militar, por meio do 18º BPM.
